All You Need To Know When Traveling To Sri Lanka from India!

Can Indian Travel to the Sri Lanka?

  • Yes. Indians Can Travel to the Sri Lanka without any travel restrictions.

Do Indians need a Visa to Travel Sri Lanka?

  • Yes. Have a valid tourist visa. All visas must be applied online. Visit www.eta.gov.lk.

Prior to boarding, travellers are required to:

  • Fully Vaccinated travellers are exempted from pre-departure COVID-19 PCR/ Rapid Antigen tests from 1st March 2022.

Note:
• Fully vaccinated travellers are EXEMPTED from obtaining the mandatory COVID-19 Local Insurance cover. However, travellers should ensure that they have a comprehensive travel insurance that will cover health and other expenses related to COVID-19 should there be a need as Government of Sri Lanka will not bear any costs
resulting.


• Fully vaccinated travellers if accompanied by not-vaccinated/not-fully vaccinated children, (all age groups) ensure that the comprehensive travel insurance is extended to cover the children adequately as the Government of Sri Lanka will not bear any costs resulting.

At the airport produce the following:

  • Negative COVID-19 PCR report (English) taken within 72 hours prior to embarkation (Applicable to all travellers excluding children below 2 years).
  • Original vaccination certificate / card (together with a certified copy of English language translation if the certificate / card is not in English or if relevant data are not indicated in English).
  • Completed Health Declaration Form. A separate form should be submitted for each of the accompanying children (if any).

On-arrival PCR tests

i. No on-arrival PCR test for “Fully Vaccinated” travellers.

ii. Not-vaccinated Children:
• No on-arrival PCR test for Not-vaccinated children up to 12 years and they will be allowed to travel with their parents.
• Not-vaccinated children of 12 -18 years need to undergo on-arrival PCR testing at the Ministry of Health approved laboratory at BIA or at any other MOH approved
laboratory and inform the result to the area MOH. If the Day 1 PCR test report is negative, they will be allowed to travel with their parents.

iii. No 2nd PCR for fully vaccinated travellers.

1. Minneriya National Park

Minneriya National Park is a compelling wildlife reserve near Polonnaruwa in the north-central province of Sri Lanka. With tropical monsoon climate, Minneriya spreads across an area of 8889 hectares of land with stunning floral and faunal wealth. Having been previously declared as a wildlife sanctuary in 1938, it was delegated as a national park in 1997 with an intention to preserve the catchment of the Minneriya tank. The vast antique Minneriya rainwater reservoir with much historical importance is the key attraction of the park. Known for its elephant corridor, it is one of the best national parks in Sri Lanka to see large herds of wild elephants about their natural routines.

2.  Sigiriya Rock Fortress

One of the most outstanding tourist attractions in Sri Lanka! Sigiriya is an incredible construction of an ancient fortress on the top of a rocky escarpment that overlooks the stupendous amount of vegetation. A Sri Lankan holiday is incomplete without paying the due visit to Sigiriya which shall include a natural sightseeing, peeping into the antiquity, and taking a stunning hike. You can't help but admire the existence, architectural brilliance of Sigiriya Fort, and fall for the charming views you are going to behold from its summit. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya epitomizes ancient urban planning.

3. Dambulla Golden Rock Temple

Dambulla Golden Rock Temple, also known as the Dambulla Cave Temple, is an ancient temple region situated in the central part of Sri Lanka, where plenty of time-old caves, rock temples, statues, paintings, and murals are the main attractions for the guests. Listed in UNESCO World Heritage list, Dambulla Cave Temples spreads over acres of land, which is still functional very well and one of the best-preserved historic edifices in Sri Lanka. Located 148 kilometers east of Colombo city, this is the largest cave temple complex in the country.

4. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic

The English word for ‘Maligawa’ is ‘Palace’.), is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. The relic was historically held by Sinhalese kings. The temple of the tooth is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple and the relic

5. Royal Botanical Garden

A dream-come-true place for splendid colors and smells! Royal Botanic Gardens or simply Peradeniya is one of the most beautiful gardens in Sri Lanka located near the city of Kandy. This garden is widely popular for its stunning collection of orchids. In the central province of the country, Royal Botanic Gardens sprawls across 147 acres at 460 meters above sea level. The record tells that this botanical garden pulls around two million people in a year. It has even been listed in the “10 great botanical gardens around the world” published by The Guardian in 2018. One of the oldest formal gardens in the country, currently, Peradeniya Botanical Garden is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.
